Beach Day

This was such a fun shoot!  I haven't taken photos on a beach since Miami back in March and this was actually my first time shooting in a bathing suit for the blog. I tried to take advantage of the location so there's lots of photos in this post!

Swimsuit : C/O LikeHerStyles/ Hat: Charlotte Russe(similar)/ Sunglasses: H&M(love)

High-waisted bathing suits are such a fun trend because they have a retro feel.  They're great for curvy shapes and for those with less curves because they help to enhance what you have.  They also show off the smallest and sometimes the most toned area of your body.  I am all for that!  If you like to drink and eat on the beach or at the pool (like me), then a high-waisted bathing suit is perfect so you can keep your tummy covered the whole time!  I know when I am on vacation and lounging outside with a frozen drink in one hand and some delicious food in the other, the last thing I want to worry about is my food belly haha

Like Her Styles offers a fun and colorful variety of high-waisted swimwear and there's even a few one pieces as well.  They're affordable and they ship the next day!  Their styles include lots of polka dots, stripes, animal print and vibrant colors. I have been wanting to try out this trend for awhile now so I was really excited to work with them.  My first pick was actually sold out (they sell out quick) so I went with this pink leopard one instead.  I picked it because it's got such a fun/wild vibe for summer and it's definitely a stand out piece.  It's different than the bathing suits I normally go for so I wanted to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and Like Her Styles was able to help me do that :)

Here's a little tip with the gold buttons:
In case you are worried about them falling off, you can easily restitch them!  I did it just to be safe and everything was secure.

Color Play

I love color blocking and playing around with colors.  I always say that the best thing about a black and white piece is that it can literally be paired with any color depending on your preference.  Here's how I decided to style it today!

Shorts: C/O SheInside/ Blazer: Forever21(also love)/ Top: C/O SugarLips (shop similar)
Shoes: Bakers (similar style)/ Bag: Aldo(similar)/ Necklace: C/O DERNG

I've noticed that the outfits I put together last minute usually come out better than the ones that I plan ahead.  I guess it has to do with me not over thinking things too much and just really allowing my creativity to flow.  I've learned many times that one of the worst things you can do is to over think everything because it really holds you back in many aspects and this definitely includes fashion.

When I got these adorable shorts I knew that I wanted to add some pop of color I just wasn't sure how I wanted to incorporate it into my look.  Last minute I decided to go with this pink short sleeve blazer that I got last year.  I ended up turning a long sleeve blouse into a sleeveless one (very challenging lol) because I didn't want to wear a regular tank.  Literally a few minutes before I went to take photos, this beautiful necklace from DERNG came in the mail and it was the perfect finishing piece to complete my look.

I just want to end this post by saying Rest In Peace to Talia Joy.  She was such an incredible inspiration at such a young age and she will always be remembered.  We love you Talia!

Girly Chic

Happy Monday loves!

Peplum Hem Jumspuit: C/O SheInside/ Shoes: Forever21(shop similar)/ Bag: C/O olivia + joy
Necklace: C/O OiaJules

How adorable is this jumpsuit from SheInside?  It obviously looks like a dress but it's not which makes it even better.  I think in some of these photos you can see the shorts a little bit.  My goal with this look was to keep it neutral with gold accents and then a pop of color with my bag.  I could have also worn a belt, but I decided to wear this beautiful crystal statement necklace from OiaJules instead.  It's definitely a new favorite!

I love the classic girly chic vibe from this look. This jumpsuit dress is perfect to wear to a night out with friends, a party or even a brunch date.  You could easily switch up the look too by adding more color and different shoes/accessories.  I like that it's a little dressy but not overdone leaving room for many options.  That's also one of my favorite things about neutral pieces.  There is so much that you can do in terms of styling.

Finally got a good twirling action shot! Yay for those shorts underneath!

As I Walk On By..

.. Will you call my name?
Saw the Breakfast Club the other day and have that song stuck in my head! I thought it kind of went with today's look :)

Top: H&M(love this)/ Shorts: C/O Choies/ Boots: Mandee (shop similar)
Wool Hat: Nasty Gal (sold out- similar style)/ Sunglasses: Ray-Ban (buy here

I have to admit that I felt a little badass (and a little country haha) in this outfit.  It's super edgy and a little different from what I usually wear.  I've been wanting to wear combat boots with shorts for awhile and now that I had all the right pieces, it was time.  These boots are actually a couple of years old but I will never part with them.  It's always fun to switch things up and try new things, at least that's how I feel when it comes to fashion.  I literally have been looking everywhere for the perfect pair of high waisted denim shorts so I am completely obsessed with these vintage style ones.  The fit is amazing and I love the unique rips. I guarantee these will be appearing more on my blog this summer because they're such a great staple piece for me. I really prefer high waisted pieces over low rise!

I've always had a thing for graphic tees but over the past year or so I have grown to love them even more.  There's really so many different ways that you can wear them, either dressed up or down, and I am all for versatility and a little edginess.  I have my eye on a couple of different ones right now that I am hoping to add to my wardrobe soon.  I really love the selection of graphic tees at Garage.  The "never stop believing" one has my name all over it!

Happy weekend!

Choose Skin Health

Disclosure: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Neutrogena.  This post has not been edited by third parties and all opinions are my own.

It is so important to take care of our skin and protect ourselves from the sun.  This is something that should be done all year round, but most people don't think about it until the summer time.  With all the trips you take to the beach and all of the vacations and getaways that you go on, one of the things that you should always pack with you is sunscreen.  To be completely honest, I didn't always use products with SPF when I went tanning and I truly regret that now.  My parents always told me to put sunscreen on, but being young and naive, all I cared about using was dark tanning oil with very little protection. I've definitely noticed marks on my skin from the sun and I realize now how much danger I put myself in.
Cancer hits home for me since I lost my father almost three years ago because of it.  My sister was also diagnosed with early stages of skin cancer around the same time that my father was diagnosed with colon cancer.  It's actually a disease that runs in my family and is something that I always think about.  Thankfully my sister was treated right away and nothing else has developed but it was a really scary time for her and my family.  Sometimes we don't really think about the dangers or side effects because we believe that nothing bad will ever happen to us.  This is why it's extremely important that we all take the proper steps to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

Some Facts
Almost every hour, one American dies of melanoma.  Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the world, yet it is also the most preventable. Surveys reveal that more than 70% of Americans do not reapply sunscreen when they are outdoors for long periods of time.  75% of teens and young adults use a moisturizer, but the majority are still not using sun protection every day.

I am so happy to be apart of  Neutrogena's Choose Skin Health campaign that exists to fight skin cancer and save lives through education, early detection and the empowerment to follow sun safe behaviors.
There are so many ways that you can protect yourself and take better care of your skin during the summer and all year round.  You can also do it in style! It all starts with using the right products and incorporating them into your daily routine.

Here are some of the things that I do to protect myself from the sun and take care of my skin:

One of the SPF products that I am currently using and will be packing in my beach bag all summer is Neutrogena Beach Defense.  It's perfect to bring with you to the pool and to other fun outdoor activities as well.  It's a lightweight, fast absorbing mist which I absolutely love and it even smells good. It's oil free and water resistant for up to 80 minutes so don't forget to reapply!

There's so many other great products from the Neutrogena Suncare line too.  Packing one in your purse and beach bag should become a priority if it isn't already.  Always apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going outdoors. And don't only use sunscreen during the summer months.  It's important to remember to use it all year round!

Please take a minute and watch this video: Choose Skin Health!

I really hope that this post helped you and makes you want to take better care of your skin.  The things we do now definitely affect us as we get older.  So don't wait for tomorrow, start today!

Aztec Love

Happy hump day loves!  I just wanted to start off this post by letting you know that after thinking about it a lot and getting some requests, I am going to start blogging more about hair and beauty!  I will make sure to do at least one post each week.  I've done so many tutorials and videos on youtube so I think it's time to bring it to the blog too!
Ok, now on to today's look..

Skirt(old): Gypsy Warrior (similar style) (also love) / Top: C/O Furor Moda/ Sandals: Forever21
Hat: C/O Charlotte Russe/ Sunglasses: Target
Jewelry: Love Always, Max & Chloe C/O

In addition to the obvious floral, another huge print trend for summer is aztec and tribal.
I wore this skirt exactly a year ago with a white top and headband so this time I put a different spin on it.  My love for maxis truly runs deep, regardless of my height.  At first it was so hard for me to find ones that were the perfect length.  Even with wearing heels, some are just way too long.  So it's golden for me to find ones like this.  This skirt speaks volumes because of it's bold print and colors, so that's why I just went with a simple black crop top.  I've already worn this top three times since I got it.  It really is the perfect summer basic!  It's all in the details and you can make a simple look still stand out by accessorizing the right way.  I added a bunch of jewelry and this floppy hat to complete my outfit.  I'm a huge fan of casual, boho chic looks, especially during summer.

I hope you're all staying cool in this heat!
Thanks so much for all the love!
